Press Release: Bini, Esan and Urhobo Language speakers and translators WANTED

NEWS UPDATE:

ESAN AND URHOBO LANGUAGES GOT A RESEARCH BOOSTING AT THE UC-BERKELEY, CA.

NONE YET FOR THE EDO LANGUAGE, THANKS TO MR. NICHOLAS ROLLE, AND

GUOSA EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC & CULTURAL INST., INC.

A PhD student at the University of California Berkeley, Mr. Nicholas Rolle, has begun his graduate studies and is actively researching the languages of Edo and Delta States, Nigeria. In particular, he is currently studying Edo, Esan, and Urhobo, and is conducting recordings of these languages with native speakers. In the academics meeting this afternoon between me and the Board of Directors of Guosa Educational, Scientific & Cultural Inst., Inc. based in Oakland CA, I advanced the case for the production of an Edo State modern dictionary to include Esan, Itsakor, Ora and all other Edo State languages and dialects.

Meanwhile, I have been contracted by Mr. Rolle to assist him in his research and studies of Edo, to facilitate research on Esan and Urhobo languages respectively with other collaborators.  Mr. Rolle and I planned to expand on the excellent dictionary and
grammar written by Prof. Rebecca Agheyisi in the 1980s and 1990s, and continue to analiyse Edo to the benefit of both community members and professional linguists at home and abroad.  We both stressed the incredible importance Edo
State plays in shaping the linguistic landscape of Nigeria, and that it has never been a more crucial time to record and describe its many vernaculars. Pending funding, our collaboration may be expanded to larger goals if assisted by the Edo State Government and non-governmental agencies as well as the numerous Edo State local and international associations all over the world, including the Edo National Association World, the Umagbae, the Esan Associations, the Afenmai Associations etc.

The Board of Directors of Guosa Educational, Scientific & Cultural Inst., Inc. is currently soliciting a funding agency to assist in
continued research on Edo State languages and dialects.  Any interested parties who wished to participate or collaborate in this program should contact me or  Mr. Nicholas Rolle for further information

Currently we have received some very little financial funding for Esan and Urhobo languages researches but none yet for the Edo language. We are therefore in need of professional Esan and Urhobo Language speakers and translators and these are the two language  at the UC-Berkeley in California. Our current rate of pay is $15/hr but may increase as soon as we are able to obtain additional financial grants and supports.

Great Benin Bronze

EDE N'ERHENA VBE EDO

"

These anti-Edo political organizations you folks went to join are the most anti-African - and Africans - in the world.

They're worse than anything; we obviously can't stop you though, even Ewuare II's manifest destiny lies in our own regional party.

We have egba Omo Oduduwa and so on, NPC, AG, the forerunner of them all NCNC and then now these cancers of today.

Stay "with them", but register for your most important election first: your local election, register Edo Political Front, and if you don't, vote the front.

No self respecting Edo will - in the future - find themselves the flag bearers and cheerleaders of foreign parties with indirect rule political and economic mandates, it just doesn't work.

No sane Edo person lives to "have the ear" of someone who doesn't have Edo at their heart.

The Supreme Court is the place to remove the frustration of these lethargic and "periodic" additions to the voting rolls; here - where I live - you can fill in the forms regarding changing your voter registration at the post office and other easy access places.

At the rate things are going we're going to find ourselves truly in decline as our populations suffer from simple things like protein deficiencies in children
