ijaws are not the oldest infact the ibibios are said to be one of the oldest and they are bantus and bantus by DNA is one of the oldest tribe in africa. Coming to the urhobos, i may not argue the history of your tribe with you but becareful the site you are sourcing your info from inorder not to be mislead and i suggest you source urhobo history direct from urhobo historical site like and also read about benin urhobo relationship at and so urhobos remain one of the earliest migration from igodomigodo now benin, even R E Bradbury benin kingdom and the edo speaking people of south western nigeria noted this.

And infact the ughelli monarchy was established midway through the reign of ogiso igodo that reigned 601Ad and ogiso ere is successor and grand son was the son of the first ovie of ughelli who was the son of ogiso igodo read D N oronsayes history of ancient benin kingdom and empire.

I agree that there where series of urhobo migration from benin during the ogiso era and during the obas era as igboze that founded okpe urhobo was oba ahenzaes cousin. Now coming to ijo there is something not clear regarding thier origin as they delibrately twist thier history, its not that ijos history wasnt documented, it was read the lower niger and its tribes by Leonard arthur glyn (1906) where it states that ijos are benin descendants, see S E johnson report on gbaramatu, patridge report on ijo, and the oral traditions amongst the ijos of the niger delta by professor E J Alagoa. Now coming to your claim are you aware of the place iduwini in delta and igbobini an apoi community in ondo dont tell me that idu benins ancestor is now an ijo man and the prefix idu is of ijo origin and now igbobini a yoruba word that means forest binis(benins) and if you are still not convinced according to some ijos oral tradition they claim ado beni origin which means riverine edo in ijo tongue what does that tell you regarding the ancestor of some ijos.

Edherue Anthony:

We have Bight of Benin. Ijaw do not exist in our past history as a serious tribe. At best, they stayed in the fringe and later, they became trouble makers by bursting pipelines, destroying the environment. They thrive in water piracy.

Now, they have become land grabbers.

Recently, they pushed their rascality real far by poking threatening the great Benin empire, the greatest and oldest Monarchy on Earth.

They remain our children if only they changed their ways.
We cannot support warlike and pipe bursting criminals. Threatening urhobo in Aladja by OgbeIjaw is unacceptable.

These anti-Edo political organizations you folks went to join are the most anti-African - and Africans - in the world.

They're worse than anything; we obviously can't stop you though, even Ewuare II's manifest destiny lies in our own regional party.

We have egba Omo Oduduwa and so on, NPC, AG, the forerunner of them all NCNC and then now these cancers of today.

Stay "with them", but register for your most important election first: your local election, register Edo Political Front, and if you don't, vote the front.

No self respecting Edo will - in the future - find themselves the flag bearers and cheerleaders of foreign parties with indirect rule political and economic mandates, it just doesn't work.

No sane Edo person lives to "have the ear" of someone who doesn't have Edo at their heart.

The Supreme Court is the place to remove the frustration of these lethargic and "periodic" additions to the voting rolls; here - where I live - you can fill in the forms regarding changing your voter registration at the post office and other easy access places.

At the rate things are going we're going to find ourselves truly in decline as our populations suffer from simple things like protein deficiencies in children
